TEHRAN, Iran, Dec 25

Trend:

Regulations that help corruption and monopoly spread in Iran, should be removed as soon as possible, Iranian economic expert Saeed Leylaz said, Trend reports via ILNA.

"To reduce corruption, there is need for free information so people can be aware of oil and gas revenues and their share," said Leylaz.

"Lack of transparency in the past three decades over the implementation of privatization rules and economic liberalization has caused corruption to spread," he added.

Leylaz said Iran has reached a point where anomalies in its economy are in need of reforms, but it won't be painless.

"If there is corruption among people its due to the rules that were passed by the parliament," he said.

"The people's opinion over important issue of Iran's accession to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) should be heard and it should not be decided by some individuals," he added.
