Weekly sales at Iran Mercantile Exchange down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1. In total, about 2.05 million tons of goods worth over 194 trillion rials (about $4.62 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME), during the last Iranian week (June 24 through June 29, 2023), Trend reports.

The sales have decreased by 32 percent in value compared to the preceding Iranian week (June 17 through June 22, 2023).

Meanwhile, 3.13 million tons of goods and 70 passenger cars worth 286 trillion rials (about $6.8 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding Iranian week.

Last week, about 1.63 million tons of goods worth approximately 125 trillion rials (about $2.98 billion) were sold in IME's industrial and mining products section.

The main products sold in this section included cement, iron ore, steel, sponge iron, aluminum, copper, lead, molybdenum concentrate and etc.

In addition, more than 370,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 62.1 trillion rials (about $1.48 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME last Iranian week.

The main products sold in this section were bitumen, vacuum bottom, polymers, chemicals, lube cut, base oil, petroleum products, sulfur, gas, etc.

At the same time, about 47,400 tons of various products worth 7.06 trillion rials (about $168 million) were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.

Moreover, 400 kilograms of saffron worth 140 billion rials (about $3.33 million) were sold in the agricultural section of the Iran Mercantile Exchange last week.

The Iranian Mercantile Exchange (IME) operates in order to provide and set prices for many products. The price of products at the IME is determined based on supply and demand. The Exchange and Securities Organization of Iran is in favor of the wholesale sale of strategically important products by the Commodity Exchange.
