The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) expects to complete drilling of a new exploration well on the Bulla Deniz-82 platform, a source in SOCAR said.

According to the forecasts, the company can produce about 500,000 cubic meters of gas and 80 tons of gas condensate from the new well.

"Much should be done here and drilling of exploration wells may be completed only in late this year or early 2011," the source said.

The design depth of the new well is 6,400 meters and 2,800 meters have already been drilled.

Earlier, the company has drilled 1,200 meters but has not completed. But recently, the company has decided to renew it.

Moreover, SOCAR expands and upgrades the Bulla Deniz - 29 platform. Expansion is planned to be implemented at the expense of four new blocks.

"Two blocks have already been installed and the rest will be ready soon," the source added.

The height of each block is 43 meters and weight - 170 tons. In the coming days, these blocks will be transported to the project area with the 34 meters depth of the sea. The platform is planned to drill wells at 5,700 meters.

Bulla Deniz field is owned by the oil and gas unit named after Narimanov. The platform located on the field produces 450,000 cubic meters of gas per day. Over 34 years of operation, 62 billion cubic meters of gas and 11 million tons of oil were produced on the Bulla Deniz field.

The daily debit of this field is 450,000 cubic meters of gas. According to SOCAR's geologists, the gas production in this field may increase several times, SOCAR said earlier.
