BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22. The global gas demand in 2024 may reach 4.2 trillion cubic meters, the gas analyst of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Greg Molnár wrote on his social media account, Trend reports.
"Industrial recovery is becoming a key driver of global gas demand. Part of this recovery is taking place in Europe and some emerging Asian markets," Molnár noted.
According to him, Asia accounted for 60 percent of total global gas consumption in the first half of 2024.
Gas consumption in China and India grew by 10 percent (in each country) from January through June.
"In Europe, gas consumption decreased against the background of the rapid increase in renewable energy sources," the IEA expert stated.
