Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / Italian company ENI may participate in the project to construct an oil refinery in the Turkish city of Ceyhan, RBK reports.

A relevant statement was also made by India's State oil company Indian Oil Crop, which realizes this project in co-operation with Turkish Calik Enerji and Kazakh 'KazMunayGaz'. The Head of the consortium states that the project requires significant investments and the Indian Oil Crop is considering the possibility to include ENI in the project as a variant to resolve the problem, Reuters reports.

As a result of talks in Deli on 10 August, a decision was made to change the parameters of the project to construct an Oil Refinery in Ceyhan, increasing its design capacity from 15 to 20mln tons per year. The grounds to change the parameters of the project are explained through Turkey's rapidly growing demands for the oil products.

In addition, to the construction of an Oil Refinery, the project envisages building a necessary port infrastructure. Increasing the capacity will increase the cost of the project which was estimated at $5bln. The license for the construction of the Oil Refinery belongs to Calik Enerji. It has established a daughter company DAPRAS JSC, of which share should be purchased by 'KazMunayGaz' and Indian Oil in the future. The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Government of Turkey received three applications for the construction of an oil refinery in Ceyhan: the first application from Calik Enerji, 'KazMunayGaz' and Indian Oil Crop, the second from Turkish alliance TURCAS and State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the third the Turkish Petroil offici and Austrian OMV. Turkey has already approved each of the three applications.
