BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6. Cargo transportation by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC increased by 7 percent from January through June 2023, Trend reports.
According to the CJSC, over 9.1 million tons of cargo were transported by rail in the first half of the year.
Thus, the share of imports accounted for 2.3 million tons of cargo, while exports accounted for 1.6 million tons. Cargo transportation within Azerbaijan amounted to about 1.5 million tons, and transit amounted to over 3.5 million tons.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan from January through May 2023 amounted to 90.9 million tons, which is 6.8 percent higher compared to the same period in 2022.
Passenger traffic in Azerbaijan exceeded 742.8 million people during the reporting period, which is 19 percent higher in comparison with the same period in 2022.
