BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Astara port in the Gilan Province (northern Iran) decreased by 28.7 percent, in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports.
As reflected in the statistic of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), approximately 10,500 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Astara port in the 2nd month. About 5,720 tons of cargo were loaded and 4,730 tons were unloaded.
Of that, 5,430 tons of cargo were exported and 4,580 tons were imported through the Astara port during the reporting month.
Also, 292 tons of cargo were loaded at the port for transit, as well as 147 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the 2nd month.
Some 100 tons of metal products, 5,030 tons of construction and mining materials, 87 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, 73 tons of chemicals, 4,580 tons of leather goods, clothing, wood materials, paper and so on, 127 tons of small and assorted goods and 452 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded at the Astara port in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year.
In total, 11.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 7.01 million tons were loaded and 4.66 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 3.4 percent compared to the same month in the last Iranian year.
