Kazakhstan-Germany business forum results in multi-billion dollar agreements

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 17. A total of 36 commercial agreements worth $6.3 billion were signed at the Kazakhstan-Germany business forum in Astana, a source at Kazakh Invest national company told Trend.

The agreements focus on joint projects across various sectors, including transportation and logistics, machine engineering, manufacturing, mining, agriculture, energy, petrochemicals, and scientific research.

Among the key agreements, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport and Kazakhstan-Germany Consortium SKYHANSA signed a Framework Agreement for the construction of an international airport in the Khorgos-Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone, valued at $560 million.

The project, expected to be completed in three phases, will create approximately 700 jobs. The cargo terminal will have a capacity of 50,000 tons, while the passenger terminal will handle up to 500 people per hour.

In the transportation and logistics sector, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Aktau International Sea Trade Port and Rhenus SE for the construction of a trimodal container terminal by 2030.

Several agreements focused on localizing various types of machinery in Kazakhstan. The cooperation agreement between Kazakhstan's Baiterek national company and CLAAS Global Sales aims to produce seeders and tractors worth $1.1 billion.

Similarly, Kazakhstan's Agromashholding and Amazonen-Werke signed an agreement to jointly produce Condor seeders in the Kostanay region, valued at $250 million.

Baiterek and Horsch also signed a cooperation agreement for the production of agricultural machinery worth $770 million.

Additionally, Samruk-Kazyna and SIEMENS signed a strategic partnership agreement for the localization of control and measurement instruments in Kazakhstan worth $27 million.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Qazaq Kalium, KfW Bankengruppe, and Euler Hermes Group for a $2.4 billion project to build a beneficiation and production complex for potassium salts and boric acid at the Satimola deposit in the West Kazakhstan region.

Furthermore, Baiterek and KfW Bankengruppe signed a $500 million Memorandum of Understanding for credit financing of renewable energy projects, energy efficiency, and support for small and medium-sized businesses.

The forum took place during the official visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Astana.
