BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 8. Cargo transportation by railways in Kyrgyzstan totaled 1.358 million tons from January through February 2024, which is an increase of 0.6 percent compared to the same period in 2023 (1.349 million tons), Trend reports.
The State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan revealed that 1.089 million tons of cargo arrived, while 486,200 tons departed during this period.
The volume of cargo turnover for railway transport amounted to 160.7 million ton-kilometers, which is a decrease of 5.8 percent compared to January through February 2023 (170.6 million ton-kilometers).
Overall, cargo transportation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 7.773 million tons from January through February 2024, which is an increase of nearly 400,000 tons, or 4.9 percent, compared to the same period in 2023. The majority of the transported goods, totaling 6.297 million tons, were carried by automobile transport.
The growth in cargo transportation volumes was observed across all regions of the country. During the reporting period, the total cargo turnover for all transportation modes in Kyrgyzstan reached 505.7 million ton-kilometers, which is an increase of 8.8 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
