BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. Austria's expertise in environmental technology could be of enormous value to Kyrgyzstan, a source at the Austrian Ministry of Finance told Trend.
“Collaboration opportunities include joint ventures and projects in green technologies, particularly in renewable energy development and infrastructure. Especially, Austria’s expertise in environmental technology could be of enormous value in Kyrgyzstan's growing demand for sustainable and green solutions. Another area for collaboration could be in the field of tourism, where Austria's established tourism sector could share knowledge and practices with a focus on ecotourism,” the source said.
The ministry added that the Austrian government provides support through trade missions, diplomatic engagement, and networking events to encourage and assist Austrian companies in entering Central Asian markets.
“Austrian businesses are offered market analysis, risk assessments, and additional advisory services through the Commercial Counselors and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO). Organizations like OeKB, the Austrian export credit agency, provide financial instruments and insurance products such as export credits for large public infrastructure projects and small private businesses, tailored funds, and credit lines to finance and mitigate risks for companies entering these markets,” the source added.
The ministry elaborated that while there is general interest in large infrastructure projects, it is ultimately up to each Austrian company to decide whether to participate in projects in Kyrgyzstan, such as the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1.
Austria may support companies in their projects in Kyrgyzstan, depending on factors such as a thorough risk assessment, financing conditions, collaboration with international partners, and adherence to environmental and social standards that Austrian companies typically follow.
“For 2024, key achievements include an increase in trade volumes. For 2025, further efforts will be made to strengthen the long-lasting relationship between our two countries, improve trade relations, and introduce more Austrian companies to Kyrgyzstan,” the source said.
