BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 23. Kyrgyzstan imported 16,602 trucks valued at over $149.4 million in 2024, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the volume of truck imports increased by 21.5 percent compared to 2023, while the value rose by 7.9 percent.
Among the main exporters of trucks to Kyrgyzstan, the largest number of vehicles came from South Korea, with 8,164 trucks imported, representing a 46 percent increase year-on-year. The value of these imports reached $28.6 million, which is a 52 percent growth. China followed with 2,985 trucks, showing a 53 percent rise, with the total value amounting to $78.7 million, increasing by 26 percent.
Imports from Lithuania saw a decrease, with 2,509 trucks imported, a 41 percent drop, and the value declined by 24 percent, totaling $9.7 million. On the other hand, imports from Germany increased significantly, with 678 trucks, a 2.7-fold rise, and the value jumped threefold to $3.9 million.
Poland also saw a considerable surge, with 485 trucks, a 4.5-fold increase, and the value grew by 6.3 times, reaching $2.7 million. The US experienced a decrease in truck imports, with 291 trucks, a 35 percent drop, and the value fell by 57 percent, totaling $8.9 million.
Meanwhile, the total trade turnover of Kyrgyzstan amounted to $16.041 billion last year, which is an increase of 0.9 percent compared to 2023. Exports reached $3.827 billion, increasing by 13.1 percent compared to the previous year. However, imports decreased by 2.4 percent, totaling $12.214 billion. Out of the country's total trade, 23.9 percent was exports, and 76.1 percent was imports.
