DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 22. The value of microloans issued in Tajikistan from January through May 2024 reached 6.686 billion somoni ($629.315 million), Trend reports.
The National Bank of Tajikistan reports that the figure rose by 26.4 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
Of this amount, 4.366 billion somoni ($410.946 million) were issued by banks, while non-bank credit institutions provided microloans totaling 5.456 million somoni ($513,542). Microfinance organizations disbursed 2.314 billion somoni ($217.803 million) in microloans.
Meanwhile, the total repayment of microloans amounted to 5.543 billion somoni ($521.731 million) from January through May 2024.
As of the end of May 2024, there were 63 credit financial organizations operating in Tajikistan, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
