DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 25. Tajikistan's heavy-duty trucks transiting through Turkmenistan are now allowed to stay at the Turkmenbashi port customs terminal for up to 60 days free of charge, Trend reports.
The announcement was made by Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, at a press conference. Previously, Tajik truck drivers were permitted to stay at Turkmen customs for no more than five days.
On April 4, during a visit to Dushanbe by the head of the upper house of the Turkmen parliament, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan agreed to develop a unified pricing policy in the transport and logistics sector. This agreement was reached during talks between Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon and Berdimuhamedov.
Special attention was given to the prospects of expanding transit shipments of Tajik goods through Turkmenistan and creating a transport corridor connecting the two countries with access to the Caspian Sea.
