DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 6. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is betting that Tajikistan's GDP will soar to 8.4 percent in 2024, Trend reports.

The bank's analysts attribute this growth to strong performance in key sectors such as agriculture, trade, construction, and mining. The forecast for 2025 also predicts an 8.4 percent increase in GDP.

The EDB attributes the high growth next year to robust domestic demand as well as improved external trade conditions, particularly the rise in prices for gold and other metals, which form the core of Tajikistan’s exports, and a decrease in the cost of imported energy resources.

Looking further ahead, the EDB projects GDP growth of 8 percent in 2026 and 7.4 percent in 2027. The influence of factors driving rapid economic growth in 2024–2025 will gradually weaken, according to the bank.

For the first nine months of 2024, the country's GDP grew by 8.4 percent year on year. The agricultural sector contributed 2.7 percentage points to this growth, while industry added 1 percentage point, driven by consistently high growth rates in mineral extraction. Trade and construction sectors contributed 1.5 percentage points and 0.4 percentage points, respectively.

In 2023, Tajikistan's GDP growth reached 8.3 percent.
