On Tuesday, the Uzbek Foreign Affairs Ministry and the delegation of Oman led by Foreign Ministry head Saeed Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi discussed implementation of agreements reached within the official visit of Uzbek President Islam Karimov to Oman in October 2009 and other important aspects of bilateral relations, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.
Within the meeting the parties noted that the long history of traditional relations and mutual desire to strengthen cooperation at the present stage is an important prerequisite for the development of Uzbek-Oman dialogue.
The Omani side was informed on new investment opportunities in the industrial and economic zones in Navoi and Angren.
They sides exchanged opinions on international and regional issues.
The second round of the Uzbek-Omani political consultations took place on the same day. The event was attended by Ambassador of Oman Muhammad Bin-Sa'id Bin-Muhammad al-Lavati.
In October 2009, the President Islam Karimov made a visit to Oman. Following the talks, bilateral intergovernmental agreements were signed on the basis of cooperation, including on trade and economic cooperation, air traffic, as well as more than a dozen documents on oil and gas, chemical and construction industries, higher education, tourism and investment.
