TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 10. Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Switzerland amounted to $192.8 million from January through May 2023, Trend reports.
According to the country's Statistics Committee, this figure is 2.5 times more than $75.2 million in the same period of 2022.
The country’s exports to Switzerland totaled $9.6 million, decreasing 30.9 percent compared to $13.9 million from January through May 2022.
On the contrary, the imports by Uzbekistan from Switzerland increased 2.9 times year-on-year – from $61.3 million to $183.2 million.
On July 8, a meeting took place between Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulaziz Kamilov, and Switzerland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, in Uzbekistan, where they discussed a wide range of issues from politics to tourism and agreed to enhance cooperation in various spheres.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $25.8 billion from January through May 2023, which is s 25.4 percent or $5 billion more than $20.5 billion in the same period of the previous year.
The country's exports equaled $10.5 billion, which is 24.1 percent higher compared to the same period last year ($8.4 billion). Uzbekistan’s imports reached $15.3 billion, increasing 26.4 percent compared to $12.1 billion from January through May 2022.
