TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 13. The energy saving interconnection fund, which operates under the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, as well as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) office in Uzbekistan, received grants totaling $833,000 from the Global Environment Facility, Trend reports.
According to the official source of Uzbekistan, these funds will be used to repay up to 30 percent of 'green consumer loans' issued by the fund's partner banks for the purchase of renewable energy sources and energy-efficient devices.
The grants will also help meet the growing demand for energy resources in Uzbekistan and reduce emissions of harmful gases into the environment.
Furthermore, up to 37.5 percent of the 'green consumer credit' allocated to women will be covered by these grant funds.
