TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 20. The French Voltalia company signed a memorandum of understanding with Uzbekistan for the development, financing, construction, and maintenance of a battery storage complex, Trend reports.
According to the company, the document was signed between Voltalia, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade at the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
The complex will be backed by a long-term sales contract and will have a capacity of 500–1000 megawatts per hour.
In addition, the project aims to support the growth of renewable energy production in the country by guaranteeing the stability and sustainability of its power grid.
Meanwhile, during the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Khorezm region, a ceremony was held to launch the construction of a photovoltaic station with a capacity of 100 megawatts by the French Voltalia company.
The photovoltaic station will generate 254 million kWh of green energy per year, which will cover 11 percent of the annual electricity consumption in the region. It is planned to connect the plant to the grid by the end of the year.
