TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 23. Azerbaijani AZENCO company is modernizing three 110 kV substations in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, international tenders were held for the modernization and reconstruction of 2 A, Hazorasp, and Chinaz substations with 110 kV voltage located in Uzbekistan's Fergana, Khorezm and Tashkent regions.

According to the results of the tender, Azerbaijani AZENCO was recognized as the winner, and on July 19, 2024, Uzbekistan signed a contract for the implementation of the projects with AZENCO.

As a result of the complete modernization and reconstruction of 2 A, Hazorasp, and Chinaz substations, an additional capacity of about 100 MVA (megavolt-ampere) will be created. This, in turn, will significantly improve the reliability of electricity supply for residential and industrial consumers in Fergana, Khorezm, and Tashkent regions.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's National Power Grids, with the participation of the World Bank, is implementing the energy sector transformation and sustainable electricity supply investment project.

Within the framework of this project, the country plans to modernize and reconstruct 22 substations with voltage from 110 to 500 kV.
