BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3. Iran’s Ardabil Province, located in the country’s northwest, requires a substantial investment for the construction of highways, with the total cost estimated at around 400 trillion rials (about $736 million), Mahbub Heydari, the director general of roads and urban development of the province, told reporters, Trend reports.
Heydari explained that the planned total length of highways in the province is 823 kilometers, of which 237 kilometers have already been completed and are in operation.
He further noted that during the previous Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), 11 trillion rials (about $20.2 million) were spent on highway construction in Ardabil Province.
The official also mentioned that in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2025, through March 20, 2026), the construction of 80 kilometers of highways in the province is expected to be completed, with an estimated expenditure of 30 trillion rials (about $55.2 million) for this project.
