Iran’s Tabriz Refinery will start production of diesel compatible with the Euro-5 emission standard in the near future, Gholamreza Bagheri, managing director of the refinery, said.
He said that the desulfurization unit of the plant has became operational and is currently working under test mode and in the near future the refinery will produce diesel compatible with Euro-5 standard, the oil ministry’s SHANA news agency reported Aug. 26.
He further said that the refinery will increase the country’s Euro-5 diesel output by six million liters per day.
He explained that the former diesel desulfurization unit of the refinery was outdated and had a low output capacity.
The new unit, which enjoys high production capacity and the updated technology, has been established under the licenses of French Axens with an investment of 42 million euros and 787 billion rials, Bagheri said.
He added that the refinery produces 5.5 million tons of products per year, of that 90 percent are various fuels.
The refinery produces 300,000 liters of LPG, 3.5 million liters of gasoline (half of that is compatible with Euro-4 standard), 1 million liters of kerosene and 4 million liters of fuel oil per day, the official said.
Reportedly diesel accounts for 40 percent of the refinery's production basket.
