Georgia’s Central Bank claims on non-residents in 2021 amounted to 156.9 million Georgian lari ($50.7 million) – an increase of 13.5 percent, compared to 138.2 million Georgian lari ($44.7 million) in 2020, Trend reports via statistical data from the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
Of the total claims on non-residents, the monetary gold and special drawing rights (SDRs) accounted for 12.4 million Georgian lari ($4 million), which is an increase of 67.5 percent, compared to 7.4 million Georgian lari ($2.3 million) in 2020.
Central Bank claims on non-residents in foreign currency in 2021 totaled 18.4 million Georgian lari ($5.9 million) – an increase of 11.5 percent, compared to 16.5 million Georgian lari ($5.3 million) in 2020.
Meanwhile, the deposits accounted for 30.2 million Georgian lari ($9.7 million) of the total claims on non-residents – an increase of 81.9 percent, compared to 16.6 million Georgian lari ($5.3 million) in 2020.
However, of the total claims on non-residents, the securities (except shares) in 2021 slightly decreased by 1.8 percent – from 97.5 million Georgian lari ($31.5 million) to 95.7 million Georgian lari ($30.9 million).
