Prime Minister Saad Hariri would travel to neighbouring Syria Saturday for talks with President Bashar al-Assad on improving relations, the premier's press office said, DPA reported.
Observers in Beirut described Hariri's trip to Damascus as a "reconciliation visit".
Hariri had been scheduled to travel there last Sunday, but the visit was postponed after a Syrian court summoned 25 Lebanese nationals, including the police chief, top prosecutor and officials from the Hariri camp, to appear for questioning over the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese premier Rafik Hariri.
Relations between Saad Harriri and Syria has been tense since 2005, when he accused Damascus of plotting the murder of his father. Damascus has consistently denied involvement.
Rafik Hariri was killed along with 20 others in a massive bomb blast in a seaside district of Beirut on February 14, 2005.
Earlier this month, Hariri told parliament he was interested in forging "brotherly ties" with Damascus.
Hariri's visit to Syria comes a day after Lebanon's President Michel Suleiman held talks with his Syrian counterpart.
