Azerbaijani pilgrims performed the last rites of the Hajj today and became hajjis - the honorary title given to believers who complete the Muslim pilgrimage, Caucasus Muslim Organization (CMO) spokesman Rahima Dadashova told Trend today.

"After the ritual of beating the devil with stones, they participated in the ceremony of sacrifice," she said. "The pilgrims will return to Mecca in the evening and begin a farewell tawaf. In general, the pilgrims feel normal."

The tawaf is an Islamic ritual of the pilgrimage. During the Hajj and Umrah, Muslims circumambulate the Ka'bah seven times in a counterclockwise direction.

About 2,000 pilgrims from Azerbaijan committed the Hajj this year. About 1,200 went by bus and 800 by plane. Two Azerbaijani pilgrims died during the Hajj this year.
