Several hundred supporters of the Libyan leader Moamer Gaddafi late Saturday rallied outside his residence in the Tripoli suburbs in an apparent bid to protect it from French military jets, al Jazeera TV reported.
The residence is in Bab-al-Asisija, where Gaddafi lives in a tent within a military compound, dpa reported.
Earlier French jets fired on and destroyed a Libyan military vehicle in the first encounter since the no-fly zone was imposed. One report suggested four tanks were destroyed.
