Türkiye reveals number of vessels welcomed by its Mersin port since beginning of year

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 24. The Turkish port of Mersin welcomed 3,820 ships in the period from January through November 2024, Trend reports via the Turkish Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

According to the ministry, the port of Mersin received 621 vessels under the flag of Türkiye and 3,199 vessels under the flags of other countries during the mentioned period.

Meanwhile, Türkiye's ports received 32.4 million tons of cargo in November 2024.

During this period, cargo traffic to domestic ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.4 million tons.

“Cargo traffic of vessels under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 30 million tons,” the statement of the ministry reads.

In addition, a total of 5.9 million tons of transit cargo was transported from Turkish ports in November 2024.

The data of the ministry indicates that Türkiye's ports handled 363.8 million tons of cargo in the period from January through November 2024.

“The cargo intake by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 27.5 million tons. Meanwhile, by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 336.3 million tons,” the information says.

The information notes that 63.5 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in the period from January through November 2024.

Türkiye's ports welcomed 4,373 vessels in November of this year.

The information shows that during this period, the number of vessels accepted at Turkish ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 2,966, while the number of vessels accepted under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 1,407.

Furthermore, Turkish ports received 56,086 vessels from January through November 2024.

“During this time, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries admitted by Turkish ports amounted to 36,550, and the number of vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 19,536," the statement notes.
