Baku rebuffs statement by Armenian defense minister

A statement by the defense minister and security secretary of Armenia, Serzh Sarkisian, though the Azerbaijani side did not back a document on approved by the OSCE Minsk Group is not true, Novruz Mammadov, the head of the Department for Foreign Relationships of the Azerbaijani Presidents Apparat, stated in an exclusive interview for Trend.

Rebuffing such a statement he inquired that why they stated about in after several days of the talks. The statement was to be made in Rambouillet to receive immediate, he added. Generally, Sarkisian has no right to come out with such statements. If there were such a fact, then the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs should state on it, Mammadov stressed.

Azerbaijan decisively voices its position on the resolution of the conflict, Mammadov underlined. The Azerbaijani President has numerously stated that Azerbaijan will not compromise even the smallest part of its territory. The conflict should be resolved on the base territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and international rule of law. Let them to put on table of talks a document on these principles and then judge weather we accept it or not. We will never approve other form of recommendations.

In reply to question on possible organization of a meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents, Mammadov said that he did not any information on a new meeting. The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs will more probably meet in Washington March, while he President are expected to hold a meeting during this year.
