An article about the forthcoming World Forum of Georgian Diasporas appeared on Financial Times, one of influential European publications, at the end of March. Too many appeals have been received from Diaspora to participate in the historical forum since then.

The organization committee told Trend, Tbilisi replied immediately to this action in an effort to hinder representatives of the Georgian Diaspora to attend this forum. Embassies in European countries sent messages with the following content:

"The so-called Congress of Nations existing in Russia plans to hold "World Forum of Georgian Peoples Diaspora in St. Petersburg on Apr. 23-24.

The Congress of Georgian People is said to invite to the forum our compatriots residing abroad. This organization is well-known for its pro-Russian orientation and tries to establish a movement counteracting Georgia's pro-western and democratic orientation.

Taking into account, we hope you will not support the initiative of participating in this forum in any forum."

In response the Congress of Georgian People states that Georgian should not have pro-Western of pro-Russian orientation, but follow the Georgian way. The problem of current authorities of Georgia is their incapability of holding Georgian policy, which would meet the Georgian people's interests.

At the same time, an organization committee of the World Forum of Georgian Peoples Diaspora thanks the Georgian Foreign Ministry for informing the public about place and date of the forum.

As to the agenda of the forum, it contains ten major issues, which include territorial integrity of Georgia, guarantee for Georgia's sovereignty, reformation of economy in favor of majority of Georgia, social defense of youth, veterans, disabled, large families, refugees, maintenance of cultural heritage of Georgian peoples, neutrality, rehabilitation of good neighborhood relations with Russia, policy for unification with the EU, mutually profitable relations with the United States and the rest powerful countries.
