Azerbaijan sent 265 corruption-related criminal cases against 480 persons committed in the past five years for consideration to the court, head of the Department on Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office Kamran Aliyev said at the official presentation of the book, "Corruption: Concepts, Specificities and Investigations."
According to Aliyev, 133 criminal cases against 235 people were sent to the court in 2009 and early 2010.
"The cases were related to bribery, official abuse, forgery, negligence, property theft, and fraud," he said.
According to Aliyev, an increasing number of citizens appealed to the department last year, which is an indicator of improving public confidence in the authorities.
