Azerbaijan, Baku, April 22 / Trend A. Huseynbala /
A member of Azerbaijani Parliament made a proposal to abolish the visa regime with Turkey.
"At present, Turkey is the only country in the world, seriously supporting us. Ordinary citizens, as well as diplomats, must be able to visit this country without a visa. Necessary conditions for ordinary citizens to visit this brotherly country without visas must be created," the Popular Front for Integrity of Azerbaijan party chairman, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev said.
He said that the visa regime must be abolished between countries, where Azerbaijani citizens often go. "Our citizens visit fraternal Turkey very often. Therefore, Foreign Minister should explain to the Parliament, what is the reason for non-abolishment of the visa regime. The person who knows about the reasons should tell us about them," he said.
Gasanguliev said that if Russia and Turkey intend to abolish the visa regime in May, this step must be taken in Azerbaijan.
Earlier, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said that work to abolish the visa regime between Azerbaijan and Turkey is continued. He said that there are some bureaucratic problems. After their elimination, the agreement to abolish the visa regime will be signed. Minister has not ruled out that this will happen this year.
