A trial over individuals accused of theft of weapons from a military unit has begun in Azerbaijan.
Today Military Serious Crimes Court held preparatory hearing on Navy officer Nurlan Askerov, civilians - Ali Gurbanov and Emil Gasimov's criminal cases.
The judicial review is scheduled for April 29.
Askerov is charged with 228.2.2 (Illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives repeatedly), 232.2.3 (Plunder or extortion of a weapon, supplies and explosives by person with use of the service position), 341 (Abusing authority, excess or inactivity of authority). Gurbanov and Gasimov are charged with 177.2.2 (Theft committed repeatedly), 228.1 (Illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation or carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies (except for the smooth-bore hunting weapon and ammunition to it), explosives) of the Criminal Code.
According to the indictment, Askerov engaged in secret sale of small arms abducted from a military unit to civilians. Gurbanov and Gasimov helped Askerov in this theft.
