Member companies of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club (CEIBC) met with the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Novruz Guliyev in Baku on May 4. Prospects of cooperation between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan were discussed at this meeting.
While giving a speech at the meeting, Novruz Guliyev spoke about the activity of the Ministry right from its establishment in 2001 in accordance with the order of all-national leader Heydar Aliyev.
He highly assessed today's initiative of CEIBC since such meetings promote establishment of the business-government dialogue and exchange of opinions about the ecological problems of the region.
Deputy Minister noted that the Ministry implements a number of governmental tasks and programs, carries out intensive work for environment protection and studies climate change issues. He also noted about the operation of the geological service in the Ministry.
He underlined that the size of special protected areas rose two times in Azerbaijan. 10 national parks have been set. The Ministry works on climate change forecasting and modernization of equipment. According to the Minister, a purposeful work is also carried out for improving water quality. In this regard, new facilities have been assembled for water cleaning.
In reply to the questions of CEIBC companies, N.Guliyev noted the importance of activation of work on ecological enlightenment of the population, especially of a young generation.
Speaking about ecological problems in the field of oil production, the Deputy Minister reminded Ilham Aliyev's statement about the necessity to change oil capital into human capital assets.
According to him, oil production in Azerbaijan has been carried out for over 150 years. As the result, big experience was gained in this sphere. In this regard, a Year of Ecology was announced in Azerbaijan which points out to the attention the government of the country pays to this sphere. In the meantime, it promoted solution of many tasks in this sphere. The Ministry is engaged in minimizing oil production impact on the environment through using the most advanced technologies in this sphere.
Speaking about gold and platinum production, the Deputy Minister noted that the geological service of the Ministry of Ecology discovered new fields in Nakhchivan, Gey-gel, Dashkasan and other regions where work is carried out. According to him, after initial handling the gold is sent to the plant in Switzerland for full treatment. Construction of the gold handling plant in Azerbaijan is at stage of completion. "Azerbaijan will start producing clean gold after completion of the construction", he noted.
He also touched the project on desalination of the Caspian Sea water. According to him, such work has already been carried out at one of SOCAR enterprises (Gum Adasi OGPD). The plant for desalination of the sea water fully meets the needs of the personnel in water including drinkable water. According to him, the new project on desalination of the sea water will be designed for industry first. Then, in case of necessity it will be cleaned for the population too.
President and Chief Executive Officer of CEIBC Telman Aliyev spoke about the activity of CEIBC. He noted the importance of creation of the Consulting council for establishing more active cooperation and simplification of business problems solution. It was positively met by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.
Certificates were given to new CEIBC companies at the event. Participating in the meeting were managers of companies and representatives of the diplomatic agencies accredited in Azerbaijan.
