Azerbaijan's industrial output moves down in 7M2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 13. Industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan manufactured 37.3 billion manat ($21.9 billion) worth of products from January through July 2024 (a 6.28 percent reduction over the year), Trend reports.

Data from the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee shows that during the reporting period, production in the oil and gas sector grew by 1.1 percent, and by eight percent in the non-oil sector compared to the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, the mining sector accounted for 65 percent of industrial output, the manufacturing sector accounted for 29.3 percent, the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam accounted for 4.8 percent, and the water, waste treatment, and recycling sector accounted for 0.9 percent.

Moreover, production of marketable oil in Azerbaijan in the past seven months of this year decreased by 4.3 percent, however, production of marketable gas increased by 6.4 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

The manufacturing of computer, electronic, and optical products increased by 73.6 percent, pharmaceutical products - 69.1 percent, automobiles, trailers, and semi-trailers - 49.9 percent, electrical equipment - 33.9 percent, and furniture - 33.3 percent.

Besides, the manufacturing of construction materials rose by 30.2 percent, metallurgical industry products - 29.2 percent, rubber and plastic products - 25.3 percent, leather and leather products, footwear - 24.5 percent, finished metal products - 19.5 percent, beverages - 15.8 percent, tobacco products - 11.2 percent, chemical industry products - 8.2 percent, food products - 6.2 percent, paper and cardboard - 5.2 percent, clothing - 3.8 percent, and petroleum products - 1.3 percent.

The data from the State Statistics Committee also indicates that manufacturing of sawn timber and wood products decreased by 2.1 percent, textile products by 9.8 percent, and printing products by 20 percent.

During the reporting period, production in the sector of generation, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam decreased by 0.3 percent, while production in the sector of water supply, treatment, and waste processing increased by 9.7 percent compared to the same period last year.

To note, industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan manufactured 66.6 billion manat ($39.1 billion) worth of products in 2023.
