BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 2. TotalEnergies announced a minor decrease in hydrocarbon production over 9M2024, reporting an average output of 2,437 kboe/d, Trend reports.
According to the producer, this marks a 2% year-on-year decline from the same period in 2023, affected by operational challenges, including security disruptions and natural declines in key regions.
Oil production (including bitumen) for 9M2024 was reported at 1,321 kb/d, down 6% compared to the previous year. However, gas production showed resilience, growing 4% year-on-year to reach 5,174 million cubic feet per day (Mcfd), largely due to favorable conditions and improved availability of production facilities.
The company’s third-quarter performance in 2024 saw gains from recent project ramp-ups.
TotalEnergies highlighted the impact of new project contributions, particularly the Mero 2 project in Brazil, as well as Tommeliten Alpha and Eldfisk North fields in Norway. The addition of Akpo West in Nigeria and Block 10 in Oman further bolstered output, while security issues in Libya and natural field declines were key factors limiting growth.
