Azerbaijan's 3M2025 industrial production sector yields mixed indicators

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12.​ Industrial production in Azerbaijan amounted to 15.8 billion manat from January through March 2025, reflecting a decrease of 2.7 percent compared to the same period last year.

Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates that in the oil and gas sector, production fell by 3.6 percent, while the non-oil and gas sector saw a growth of 3.5 percent.

The distribution of industrial production shows that 62.4 percent came from the mining sector, 30.3 percent from the manufacturing sector, 6.4 percent from electricity, gas, and steam production and distribution, and 0.9 percent from water supply, wastewater treatment, and disposal.

In the mining sector, crude oil production dropped by 5.5 percent, while natural gas production increased by 1.1 percent.

In the processing sector, production of wood and wood products increased by two times, pharmaceutical product output rose by 43.3 percent, production of computer, electronic, and optical products grew by 31.4 percent, leather and leather products, including footwear, saw an increase of 23.7 percent, machinery and equipment production rose by 20.9 percent, textile industry output grew by 15.6 percent, food products production increased by 12.2 percent, and the production of automobiles, trailers, and semi-trailers grew by 3.1 percent.

The chemical industry saw a 1.9 percent increase, beverage production rose by 0.9 percent, production of rubber and plastic products grew by 1.8 percent, electrical equipment production increased by 2.4 percent, tobacco products production rose by 3.1 percent, petroleum product output grew by 7.0 percent, metallurgical industry products increased by 8.0 percent, construction materials production rose by 9.5 percent, furniture production grew by 9.7 percent, production of finished metal products increased by 18.1 percent, and paper and cardboard output rose by 31.5 percent.

However, machinery and equipment installation and repair work decreased by 32.8 percent, clothing production dropped by 45.3 percent, and production of printing products fell by 55.1 percent.

The electricity, gas, and steam production sector saw a slight increase in output of 1.2 percent, while the water supply, waste treatment, and disposal sector grew by 3.0 percent.
