ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 17. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in the signing of a framework agreement on the construction of a urea plant in the Kiyanly settlement of Balkan province during his official visit to Japan, Trend reports.
The agreement outlines cooperation for the design, procurement, and turnkey construction of a facility with an annual capacity of 1.155 million tons. The deal was signed between the Turkmen State Concern Turkmenhimiya and a consortium of companies, including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Japan), Gap Construction Investment and Foreign Trade Joint Stock Company (Türkiye), and Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan).
This new urea plant follows the model of the Garabogazkarbamid facility, which was commissioned in 2018 in Turkmenistan. The Garabogazkarbamid plant produces 1.155 million tons of urea and 660,000 tons of synthetic ammonia annually, using natural gas as the main raw material.
In addition, another framework agreement was signed between the Türkmenhimiýa concern and a consortium of Toyo Engineering Corporation (Japan) and Rönesans Endüstri Tesisleri Inşaat Sanaýi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Türkiye) to cooperate on the capital repair of the Kiyanly polymer plant.
