BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Trade operations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam have experienced a notable decline, reaching $127.2 million from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this marks a decrease of $19.2 million, or 49.8 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
In the first quarter of 2025, Azerbaijan exported goods worth $91.8 million to Vietnam, marking a reduction of 57.8 percent, or $125.8 million, from January through March 2024.
Additionally, imports from Vietnam to Azerbaijan totaled $35.4 million, showing a slight decrease of 0.9 percent, or about $312,000 year-on-year.
For the entire year of 2024, the total trade volume between Azerbaijan and Vietnam amounted to $223.9 million, which represents a significant decline of 53.6 percent, or $258.2 million, compared to 2023.
Exports from Azerbaijan to Vietnam amounted to $78.8 million, reflecting a sharp drop of 77.2 percent, or $267 million, compared to the previous year.
Conversely, the import metrics from Vietnam to Azerbaijan in the
fiscal year 2024 escalated to $145.1 million, reflecting a 6.5
percent uptick, equating to an increment of $8.8 million relative
to the preceding year, 2023.
Furthermore, in the fiscal year 2024, Vietnam positioned itself as
the 21st largest recipient of hydrocarbon imports from Azerbaijan,
with a valuation of $77.9 million attributed to oil and derivative
products exported to Vietnam. This statistic underscores a
significant contraction of $267.6 million, translating to a 77.5
percent depreciation in monetary terms, alongside a volumetric
reduction of 415,900 tons, equating to a 75 percent decline
relative to the preceding year, 2023.
