BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. A total of 76.4 million tons of goods worth 6.34 quadrillion rials (about $151 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME), over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Trend reports citing IME’s official portal.
This is an increase of 96.6 percent in value and 115 percent in volume, compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
Thus, a total of 35.4 million tons of goods worth 3.22 quadrillion rials (about $76.7 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) within preceding Iranian year.
According to the statistics, about 18.3 million tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 2.53 quadrillion rials (about $60.2 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of the IME last year.
These products were mainly various petrochemical products, including vacuum bottom, bitumen, lube cut, chemicals, sulfur, base oil, argon, and etc.
“In addition, about 57.7 million tons of products worth 3.74 quadrillion rials (about $89 billion) were sold in the industrial and mining products section of the IME over the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.
According to the statistics, various products, including cement, steel, iron ore, sponge iron, aluminum, zinc, copper, molybdenum concentrate, lead, precious metal concentrate, gold bars, and so on were sold in this section.
At the same time, 374,000 tons of various products worth 71.6 trillion rials (about $1.7 billion) were sold in the sub-market section of the exchange last year, the statistics said.
Furthermore, about 6 tons of products worth 758 billion rials (about $18 million) were sold in the agricultural section of the exchange in the last Iranian year.
