National Iranian Oil Company invested $12.5 billion in the oil industry of the country during the last year (New year begins in Iran March 21), the company director Seyfulla Dzhashnsaz said, SHANA news agency reported.
Dzhashnsaz said that figure increased by 25 percent compared to last year.
Dzhashnsaz said that one of the main objectives of the company this year will be the development project of South Pars, and then the development of other joint deposits.
"In the nearest future good news associated with the provision of financial resources for the development project of South Pars will be announced," Dzhashnsaz said.
He said that Amid Kabir platform's activity continues in the Caspian Sea. Now the well reached a depth of 1,700 meters.
Dzhashnsaz said that a new platform will be put into operation in the Caspian Sea.
"Taking into account the large number of hydrocarbons in the Caspian Sea, one platform will not be able to develop such a quantity of reserves. Moreover, if new hydrocarbon reserves are developed, new platforms will be put into operation," Dzhashnsaz said.
Iran has started drilling its first exploration well in the Caspian Sea February 11.
The well is drilled through the platform "Amir Kabir" (former Iran-Alborzy). According to the program prepared by the National Iranian Oil Company, three exploration wells will be drilled first in the Caspian Sea.
