Turkey and Russia have not agreed on discounts for Russian gas, TRT Haber TV channel quoted Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz as saying Dec. 11.

He said that Ankara intends to get a discount on the Russian gas supplied to the country at a rate of 15 percent by late 2014.

Yildiz said December 3 that Turkey and Moscow continue a dialogue on a Russian gas price decrease.

"The gas price, which the Russian side has offered to Ankara, is not final," he said.

He also expressed the hope that the sides will soon discuss the prices on Russian gas supplied to Turkey.

Earlier, it was reported that Turkey demands that Russia increase its discount on gas supplied to the country, Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu said.

"After Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Turkey would receive a 6 percent discount on Russian natural gas to be supplied from January 2015, Ankara demanded an increase in the discount," Davutoglu said.

"Ankara hopes that the Russian side, taking into account the needs of Turkey in natural gas, will make an additional discount," he said.

On Dec. 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Turkey would receive a 6 percent discount on Russian natural gas to be supplied from January 2015.

Russia is the main supplier of natural gas to Turkey. Around 26.7 billion cubic meters of gas was supplied to Turkey from Russia in 2013 and it is planned to increase this figure to 30 billion cubic meters in 2014.

On Nov.19, Turkey and Algeria signed a new contract for the period of ten years on supply of gas from Algeria.
