By Fakhri Vakilov – Trend:

Kyrgyzstan sold electricity to Uzbekistan at a price of 72.30 soums per kilowatt-hour, while the tariff for the population was 84.35 soums per kilowatt-hour, Trend reports via Russian media outlets.

The annual meeting of shareholders of the company Kyrgyz "Electric Power Stations" OJSC negotiated on this topic.

General Director of "Electric stations" Askar Kaybaliyev noted that Kyrgyzstan was selling to Uzbekistan surplus electricity, that is available only in summer.

However, he noted that the specified cost of electricity is the average selling price, but then there is a surcharge of intermediaries who supply electricity to consumers.

“The the pricing policy in this case is important. No one except them buys it from us. It is impossible to jump above it,” Kaibaliyev said.

Moreover, the head of the Electric Power Stations also announced that this year Kyrgyzstan will not export electricity to other countries, because of the next low-water period.

It has again become necessary to save water in order to generate electricity for the country’s own needs.
