BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. Turkish company Çalik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. won Turkmenistan's tender for the implementation of an EPC contract for the construction of compressor station (CS) Shatlyk-1 in Mary province on the East-West gas trunkline, the statement of Turkmenistan's official portal said, Trend reports.
Meanwhile, Turkmengaz announced pre-qualification of the international tender for the construction of the Shatlyk CS-1 in June 2023, and the results of the tender have been made public now.
Based on these results, the President of Turkmenistan authorized the state concern Turkmengaz to conclude an EPC contract for the construction of the Shatlyk-1 compressor station (CS).
Çalik Enerji is engaged in implementing such projects as:
- creation of a 500 kV Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line (transmission line) for $1.6 billion, which will run parallel to the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAP) main gas pipeline,
- supply of equipment and materials for construction of transmission lines and substations Akhal - Balkan and Balkan - Dashoguz necessary for launching the ring energy system of Turkmenistan,
- construction of a 1,574 MW gas-fired power plant on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea near the city of Turkmenbashi in the Balkan province (it is planned to be commissioned in May 2027).
The new project, with the participation of Çalik Enerji, provides for the design, construction, and equipping (EPC) of KS Shatlyk-1 and commissioning works.
The contract with the Turkish company also provides for the reconstruction or construction of new external supply engineering systems and facilities for electricity, gas, water supply, communications, and sewage with connection to the common network.
The construction works may start as early as September 2024, and under the contract, it is necessary to deliver the facility with full readiness for operation in September 2026.
The facility will be built at the expense of the national investments of Turkmenistan.
Experts believe that the project will serve to diversify the supply of Turkmen natural gas to world markets.
The East-West IHP envisages connecting Turkmenistan's main gas fields located in the east of the country with the western regions and the Caspian Sea to create a closed gas transportation system of Turkmenistan and ensure the pumping of significant volumes in the eastern and western directions.
Thus, the gas pipeline makes it possible to supply natural gas from Mary province in the southeast of the country, where large natural gas fields Dovletabad, Malay, Yashlar, and Galkynysh are located, to the western regions of Turkmenistan.
To note, the linear part of the East-West gas pipeline was put
into operation in December 2015.
This pipeline currently supplies gas to several industrial
facilities that have already been built and will be built in the
future in Turkmenistan.
