The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) informed Trend that as of 1 November 2006, daily gas production by the oil and gas production unit 28 May' from the Gunashli Field made up 10.5mln cu.m against the forecast of 6.8mln cu.m.
One of the reasons for the increase of gas production was the construction of a subsea gas pipeline of high pressure from the Gunashli field to Oil Rocks in August 2006. The pipeline connects units 6 wells with a daily debit of 200,000-400,000 cu.m. In October a well with a daily debit of 440,000 cu.m of gas was put into exploitation.
At present in connection with a cut in the Russian gas delivery, SOCAR is charged in increasing gas production. If this year they lift 4.5bln cu.m of gas, next year the figure will be raised to 5bln cu.m.
In this respect it is planned to drill 7 wells on Gunashli field, 2 on 8 Mart' and 1on Bahar.
In July 2007, technology on collection of low-pressure gas will be put into exploitation on the Gunashli field. In this respect it is planned to construct a gas pipeline with low pressure, a gas compression station on Gunashli 4 platform with a capacity of 4 mln cu.m per day.
