ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, January 17. The loan portfolio granted by financial institutions in Turkmenistan to enterprises, organizations, and citizens as of December 1, 2023, reached a sum of 90.1 billion Turkmen manat (equivalent to $25.8 billion), Trend reports.
Data from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan show that these figures indicate an increase of 1.8 percent compared to the corresponding date of the previous year (which amounted to 88.5 billion Turkmen manat or $25.3 billion).
The cumulative loan balance provided to citizens engaged in entrepreneurial activity without establishing a legal entity stood at 21.3 billion Turkmen manat ($6.1 billion) at the start of December 2023, which is 14.5 percent more than in the same period of 2022 (18.6 billion Turkmen manat, or $5.3 billion).
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is actively developing its financial sector, striving for modern standards, and improving the efficiency of the economy.
As part of this process, the country is actively introducing digital technologies, improving banking systems, and stimulating financial inclusion.
