The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) "Let's unite the CIS" and a preparatory meeting for the CIS countries for the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2010 will be held in Minsk in Nov. 23-27, the Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry told Trend on Aug.17.
Communications and Information Technologies Minister Ali Abbasov is expected to head the Azerbaijani delegation in the forum. The authorized representatives and experts from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and etc will attend the meeting.
This event will contribute to a new round of relations among the representatives of the governmental agencies, businesses, financial institutions, research organizations and suppliers who are interested in the development of the ICT industry, towards a global information society in the CIS region.
The high-level meeting "Let's unite the CIS" is part of a global initiative of ITU "Let's unite the world" and is aimed at promoting partnerships between public and private sectors to attract investment needed to ensure the main objectives of the World Summit on the Information Society by late 2015.
The overall objective of the meeting "Let's unite the CIS" would be to mobilize the technical, financial and human resources necessary to facilitate the rapid transition of the entire region to the digital divide based on infrastructure and services that are universally regarded as the engine of economic and social development. The development of advanced technologies and communications, the creation of an enabling environment for attracting investment, improving the regulatory environment, the introduction of services based on the use of information and communication technologies arte among the priorities.
