BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. The volume of cargo transported by trucks in Iran’s Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), increased by 9 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
The director general noted that the province transported 3.6 million tons of cargo within 10 months. Meanwhile, the figure stood at 3.3 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Vosughi added that cement, potatoes, construction materials, mineral water, watermelon, diesel, and gasoline were the primary transported goods in the province.
“During 10 months, about 1.73 million tons of cargo were transported in Ardabil County, 927,000 tons in Namin County, 339,000 tons in Parsabad County, 225,000 tons in Khalkhal County, 171,000 tons in Bilasuvar County, 95,000 tons in Aslan Duz County, 91,000 tons in Meshgin Shahr County, and 56,000 tons in Germi County of Ardabil Province,” he said.
According to Vosughi, there are 90 companies engaged in cargo transportation in Ardabil Province. At the same time, there are 13,550 trucks and 2 cargo terminals in the province.
