Kazakhstan, Astana, Aug.12 /Trend, A. Maratov /
U.S. physicians stated that Kazakh student Aynur Ahmetova's brain is dead, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Ilyas Omarov told Trend.
"The hospital's doctors stated that the girl's brain ceased to function. Cardiac arrest can hit her at any time. In this regard, transporting her home is impossible because of medical reasons", Omarov said.
The Kazakh student Aynur Ahmetova took part in the Work and Travel education program in the United States. The Kazakh Consulate said that the girl was found unconscious near a motel pool by police in Massachusetts. The investigation is underway.
"The council of the U.S. physicians will decide whether to disconnect the girl from an artificial life-support apparatus, the Director of the Kazakh Consular Service Riskali Daurenbekov said earlier. Aynur's mother asked not to have her daughter disconnected from artificial life support and that she be transported to the neurosurgery center in Astana.
Omarov added that "due to ethic reasons towards her relatives, the body remains connected to a respirator."
"Ahmetova's relatives are informed about the proceedings", Omarov said.
