Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan implement industrial projects worth hundreds of millions dollars

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 7. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have implemented 12 joint industrial projects worth $217 million, Trend reports.

The announcement was made during the "Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan" business forum, according to the official website of Kazakhstan's Prime Minister.

The initiatives cover the production of household appliances, trucks, passenger cars, and tractors. Additionally, three major investment projects totaling over $178 million are in progress. These include a 500,000-ton electric steel plant in Taraz and an infusion solution production facility in Shymkent.

It was also noted that Uzbekistan is a primary supplier of fruits and vegetables to Kazakhstan. Discussions are underway to enhance the movement of perishable goods through the joint venture "UZKAZTRADE."

To note, Kazakhstan traded over 57 percent of its Central Asian commerce with Uzbekistan in 2023, making it its 7th major trading partner.
