BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 30. The total number of bank cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan reached 7.984 million as of June 30, 2024, which is a 30.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the figure grew by 15.9 percent since the beginning of the year.

In terms of card types, the distribution is as follows: National system Elkard: 3,584,175 cards (44.9 percent), and international systems: 4,400,772 cards (55.1 percent).

Among the international systems:

- VISA: 4,249,029 cards (53.2 percent)

- Mastercard: 44,360 cards (0.6 percent)

- Russia's Zolotaya Korona: 88,962 cards (1.1 percent)

- UnionPay International: 18,421 cards (0.2 percent)

As of June 30, 2024, 21 commercial banks in Kyrgyzstan provided issuance and acquiring services for the Elkard, while 20 banks offered services for international payment systems.
