BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 9. The government of Kyrgyzstan has increased electricity tariffs for non-household consumers, Trend reports.

Chairman of the Cabinet of the Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov signed amendments to the Medium-Term Tariff Policy for Electricity (2021-2025), raising the tariff to 3.76 soms ($0.044) per kilowatt-hour, excluding taxes.

This marks an increase from the previous rate of 3.18 soms ($0.037) per kilowatt-hour.

Officials cited the need to cover operational costs for electricity suppliers and to maintain a stable power supply amid ongoing challenges in the energy sector.

Starting May 1, the cost of electricity rose for residential consumers. For those using up to 700 kWh per month, the rate is now 1.11 soms ($0.013) per kWh. For consumption exceeding 700 kWh per month, the charge increased to 2.39 soms ($0.028) per kWh.
